Here at the PRS, everything we do has been based and guided by the Six Principles of Nurture which has successfully underpinned nurturing approaches for over 50 years. Our school is proud to say that we are the first Pupil Referral Unit in the UK to have been awarded the National Nurturing Schools Programme. The award is evidence of our school’s success in implementing and embedding a nurturing culture that responds to the social, emotional and mental health needs of our pupils, alongside their academic studies.
The nurturing approach offers a range of opportunities for our pupils to engage with nurturing experiences, giving them the social and emotional skills to do well at school and with peers, develop their resilience and their capacity to deal more confidently with the trials and tribulations of life.
