During the last academic year and continuing into this year, we have made huge improvements to our reading programme and encouragement of ‘Reading for Pleasure’ across the school.

D.E.A.R time aka ‘Drop Everything and Read’. Pupils have been reading a “Class reading” book and then discussed this with their Tutors. This has made huge improvements to their reading ages as most pupils have gone up, sometimes by years. Well done everyone!

We also have a fully functional library, thanks to Mrs Ford.  Offering a calm, relaxed and comfortable environment full of fiction and non-fiction books that pupils and staff are free to borrow. Pupils can sit and relax on bean bags whilst reading in the newly furnished Library.

If pupils are unsure of what to read we have a ‘Lucky Dip’ that is full of different titles to try.

Staff also have access to books in the “Staff Read” book box!
