And we are back! A brand new school year!
It is lovely to see so many of you happy to be back with us. We have said goodbye to some of our pupils that are ready to move on after a successful placement, with more pupils ready to start their transition back to mainstream school. Our new pupils have settled in well, both with peers and teachers.
Our new Enrichment groups have been carefully decided. We have: Pilates/Gym, Baking, Creative Crafts, Outdoor Ed and Mural creating with an extremely popular, local graffiti artist.
This academic year we also have our new behaviour system in place, E-Praise. This new positive reward system, allows pupils to collect points each lesson, break/lunch, and as they move around school. Pupils can then spend points in the E-Praise shop on whatever they fancy.
To make it that bit better, pupils decide what they would like in the shop! So far we have: £10 vouchers for various places, 30 minutes on the VR, “Car-Aoke” with Miss Broadbent (most sought after!), Dominos for lunch, Tesco run for ‘scran’, a gym session and much more.
Another positive, is that pupils can unlock achievements. These are unlocked at 250 points, 500 points, 750 points etc. Certificates are handed out weekly in our praise assemblies. During this time, we also celebrate ‘Best Tutor Group’ of the week & ‘Most Improved Attendance’. It’s a great time for staff and pupils to reflect on the positives.
The first winners of our ‘Best Tutor Group’ is…. Miss Oldham’s Y9 tutor group!! Well done!!
As always, our main focus in on attendance. So, we are continuing our ‘100 Club’. For every 100% attendance week, pupils will get a voucher to be entered in a prize draw. We would like to thank all parents and carers for their support regarding the importance of attendance in school.
